Got questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Langtang Valley trek suitable for beginners?

Yes — rated 3/7, it is one of Nepal's most accessible Himalayan treks and a good first high-altitude walk. Over 7 days you reach Kyanjin Gompa at 3,830 m on moderate trail. The optional Tserko Ri summit (4,984 m) is a steeper add-on for those who feel strong and acclimatised.

How do I get to the start of the Langtang trek?

The trailhead at Syabrubesi is reached by road directly from Kathmandu — there is no mountain flight required, which is part of what makes Langtang so accessible and well-suited to shorter schedules.

Can the Langtang Valley be trekked in winter?

Yes. Because the maximum elevation is a relatively moderate 4,984 m, Langtang is one of the few Himalayan valleys comfortably trekked in winter (December–February) as well as spring and autumn — expect cold, clear days and possible snow higher up around Kyanjin.

Is it safe to trek Langtang after the 2015 earthquake?

Yes. Langtang Village and the trail lodges have been rebuilt, and the route is fully open. Trekking here directly supports the community's ongoing recovery, and your guide knows the rebuilt route and current conditions.
